Message from our founder

In today’s highly competitive global economy, a person in possession of a high school diploma will most likely struggle with paying even the most basic living expenses, causing Americans to have to earn more than ever before to maintain an acceptable standard of living. Without a college degree, the opportunity for financial success does not merely decrease; it nearly diminishes completely. Not having a college degree can make life a downright struggle for many, eliminating many options for employment to those without these credentials.

When I was a young girl, my parents left my home country of Vietnam with mere pennies in their pocket.  They left everything they had ever loved behind to travel to the United States in hopes to earn a better life. Through years of hard work and struggle, my family persevered, and my father was able to earn a modest income and provide for my siblings and I. With his help and the help of the rest of my family, I was privileged enough to pursue my college degree upon completing high school. Since earning my college degree, the quality of my life has improved considerably in so many ways. Many opportunities in my life have since been realized; many doors have been opened. I owe all of my success to both my family and to my drive to continue my education, receiving both my Bachelors and Masters degree. 

While I have been so privileged to have this opportunity, many have not. If the high cost of living today isn’t hard enough already, many other unfortunate circumstances can make higher education out of reach for many people. Many will work hard to try and obtain a college degree, but still will fall short of reaching their goal. Some of these hard working yet deserving people will not have family to rely on for help. Perhaps they are burdened by financial issues, which make paying their tuition impossible. Maybe they already work two or more jobs, and attending college is just not an option.  Everyone’s life and struggle is different, but nonetheless, the fact remains: without a college degree, it will continue to be increasingly harder for many otherwise worthy and committed young adults to get ahead financially in today’s difficult and competitive global economy. 

This is the reason why the Beyond Tomorrow Foundation, exists: to give people who demonstrate exceptional performance in their past academic studies the chance to achieve their dream of higher education. Helping to eliminate some of their financial struggle today will allowthem the opportunity to earn a better life for themselves and their families, as well as contribute to a stronger American economy and better society for tomorrow.
